Up Your Picture Game with Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras

When shopping for a digital camera, the image sensor is one of the most important factors to consider because it directly relates to the image resolution and the maximum number of pixels available. Bigger sensor area generally produces higher quality images because it’s able to gather more light. When combined with a high quality lens, the resulting photographs can look stunning with more clarity and contrast.

Full frame camera costs more than the smaller sized counterparts because it’s physically bigger and requires a bigger camera body to house it in. The term “full frame” originates from the long-established 35mm film (actual size is 36 x 24 mm) which has been the standard found in all analog or “old school” cameras. Other popular sensor sizes include 1″, micro 4/3, and APS-C. They are also knows as crop sensors because their field of view is smaller, thus “cropped” compared to full frame.
Advantages of Full-Frame Camera
Why would you wan to go with a full-frame mirrorless camera even though it’s bulkier and costs more? It all boils down to the added performance and in this case bigger is better. Some of the advantages are:
- Improved low light performance with less noise
- Higher image resolution with greater image details
- Higher ISO means greater sensitivities
- Greater depth-of-field control for that amazing portrait shot

Others Factors to Consider
Keep in mind that there are factors other than sensor size that can affect the photo quality. Modern digital cameras rely on smart software to provide fast and sharp autofocus as well as accurate image rendering after it was captured. An investment in a high quality lens also pays off in higher quality picture. A good lens will let in maximum amount of light while keeping chromatic aberration and distortion to a minimum. So it’s worth the time to study all the features a camera offers and carefully select its components and accessories so you can stay within the budget.
